I am currently working on an exhibition opening at Clifton Park Museum later this month as part of my British Academy Fellowship project, The Emergence of Literacy in Young Children.
Clifton Park Museum is one of the partners in the research, and invited me to use their temporary exhibition space. This seemed like such a great opportunity to 1) share the findings of the research in an accessible way and 2) open up broader conversations about young children, place and materials with parents, children and early years professionals locally.
I am lucky to be working with visual artist Steve Pool for this phase of the fieldwork, so we have been busy all summer prepping panels and gathering objects for the cases. It has been a really interesting experience to think about how to materialise ideas from the research, and ways in which both adults and children can connect with the ideas. There will be a few different events at the museum connected to the exhibition (which runs from mid September to mid November) and I will share information about these and some images of the exhibition itself once it is installed.
